The final score,, was 5 to 4. SSB won the game with a rally in the 9th inning when they tallied 4 runs on 2 hits. The highlight belonged to Albert Pujols who deflated the spirits of the home town crowd when he popped a two-run clout over the fence (his 26th of the season). SSB had just 6 hits for the afternoon. The victory went to Giovanni Carrara(2-1) who went 1 and 1/3 innings, allowing no runs. Carrara got help from Mariano Rivera who earned his 14th save. The loss was charged to Chad Cordero(2-2) in relief. He surrendered 3 runs and 2 hits in 1 inning. Phil Vantrepotte was all smiles after the game, 'To pull a game out in your last at bats, is a beautiful feeling - and did you see how quiet it got out there? You could have heard a pin drop when we took the lead. But, hey, that's what makes baseball so great - as the great sage Yogi Berra says, 'it's not over 'til its over.'
